Western Digital Hard Drive, 7200 RPM, at Cirtcuit City/ Certegy Check Company To Whom It May Concern at Certegy Check complaint department:
I was recently at Circuit City on the corner of Tittabawasse and Bay in Saginaw, MI. I wrote a check for about $150 to buy a Western Digital Hard Drive, 7200 RPM. To my surprise my check was not accepted. I have not had bounced checks and could not figure out why this happened to me. It was very humiliating. I had the salesperson run it through 2 more times. Still no acceptance. So I wasted an hour on my cell phone time politely and anxiously trying to figure this matter out. several times they told me they had figured the matter out, and that my check should work. I made the Certegy customer service representative stay on the line the Several times I rewrote new checks to see if it would be accepted. Still nothing.
After being frustrated and embarrassed for so long, I was finally transferred to a Certegy supervisor. She then told me that there was too much fraud in Michigan, and I had to build a "trust" with Certegy and eventually my larger checks would be accepted. This was just absolutely ridiculous to me, especially since I have never given your ocmpany any problems with checks. Not to mention I had over $3,000 in my account at the time. I had written many checks to other stores that use Certegy such as Fashion Bug, Best Buy, as well as Circuit City.
Which brings me to a similar situation that happened to me at Fashion Bug a week prior. I wrote a check at Fashion Bug for about $60. I had plenty of money in my checking account, yet it wasn't accepted. How could I "build trust" with Certegy if I can't even write a $60 check? This was very frustrating and will probably lead to business loss at businesses that use Certegy on the days I don't have adequate cash in my pocket.
What can you do to resolve this issue that makes me appear as a white trash felon who is out to screw around and commit check felonies? That is how these situations made me feel and look to the stores and other customers around me. And why all of a sudden now are my checks no good?
This whole issue makes no sense to me. I would appreciate it if I could have the check writing privilage back, although I have more than "earned" the right to be able to write checks.
Please do something about this matter as soon as humanly possible.
