CALLWAVE - NOT THE REAL PRICE

CALLWAVE - NOT THE REAL PRICE Be aware when dealing with Callwave that they are in the practice of charging you in all sorts of sneaky ways. They are also extremely disorganized and it is impossible to get your issues resolved. The CS reps don't even read your emails -- they just see a word or two about the content and send a canned message -- most of the emails make no sense with regard to the actual problem.
I signed up for a $3.95 service. Last month I noticed I was getting long distance charges on my AT&T bill for varying amounts $.30, $.40, $.50 -- all charged to the Callwave # they gave me -- something that was never disclosed to me. I looked back a few months and see more.
I have been unable to find out more and am having AT&T send me a list of charges. A couple reps said that I should change my Callwave area code to my local code (not the Nevada #). THEY ASSIGNED ME A CALLWAVE #. If it works that way then why wouldn't they GIVE me a local number instead of expecting me to know what their business is all about. I just thought it was a special phone number to do business with them! I wonder if they make some profit on these long distance charges also.
I also ended up with another additional $9 in phone charges just trying to get things resolved -- they kept saying they weren't getting my fax and I was so frustrated I didn't stop to think and realize that I was incurring another $1.50+ to send one to the the number they gave me. What was wrong with email I can't imagine. Maybe they thought it was funny.
When I looked at my current LD charges and saw another $9 accruing from doing business with them, I cancelled the service by phone. And then didn't I get another email saying that I would have Callwave through my next billing period -- and they charged me ANOTHER $3.95 instead of cancelling right away -- which I had to order them to do and refund the Visa charge (status to be determined).
Maybe I should close that Visa account -- who knows what else they're up to.
Callwave is a marketing scam and they are crooks.
I am now enjoying broadband and don't have to worry about getting caught up with another of these sneaky types of get-rich-quick companies. I hope they get their due!
