McNugget Happy Meal

On November 25, 2005, my wife, my 6 year old son and I stopped at this McDonald’s to buy

Lunch. My son ordered a McNugget Happy Meal. It turned out to not be a Happy meal.

When he took the first nugget and bit into it, He reached up to his mouth and pulled out a hard plastic

Object that was white in color, 3/8ths of an inch wide at one end and thick and 1 and 3/8ths inches

In length. It was twisted as if it had been sheared off a larger piece of plastic. The other end was

Sharp pointed. If he had not caught it and not swallowed it, it likely would have lodged in his

Throat and caused him to choke or perforated his esophagus or stomach. I immediately took the

Object up to the cashier and told 3 employees standing there, including the two who initially

Waited on me, whaat was in his nugget and showed it to them. The third person, a short

Hispanic female wanted me to give the object to her. I refused. She said she needed it to make

An incident report. She again insisted I turn the object over to her. I told her I paid for the

Meal and I would be keeping the object and would make my own incident report. A couple of

Minutes later, a Hispanic male with a clipboard and a form came by and took an incident report.

The following Monday on returning to my workplace I sent an email to McDonald’s corporation

Reporting the incident. The outcome of all this was a form letter from McDonalds saying how

Much they appreciate their customer and regret that we were unhappy with the service. They

Turned the matter over to York Claims Service to review and 60 days later, after York had sent an

Investigator to my office to take pictures of the object and take my recorded statement, they

Said McDonald’s disavowed any responsibility or liability in the matter. In short, they are not

Responsible for what they serve or what might be in the food they serve. No concern about

How it got there, what it might have been exposed to , etc. They simply didn’t care about my

Son or any trauma this caused to our family. I have since made a report to the Collin County

BBB, the Mckinney City Health Department, and to the Dallas Morning News. I intend to let

As many people as possible know that the food they purchase at McDonald’s is unsafe and

Apparently McDonald’s doesn’t care about the health and well being of its consumers.
