Whirlpool

Whirlpool Side-by-Side freezer/refrigerator. Ours went out on Tuesday night, it acted like it was trying to freeze, but never did and barely kept things cool. We called a repairman the next morning, and when he came over, he said the unit was showing orange, which indicated that it was going to catch fire. When he repaired it, he said there was a faulty relay, and that Whirlpool no longer uses this type of relay because there have been fires associated with these units. Our side by side is not even 4 years old yet, as we purchased it in October 2002. I checked all the recall boards, etc., and couldn’t find anything reference these side by sides. I am really angry. Fortunately, we caught it and had it repaired before any real damage was done. However, I did lose about $100 of groceries, and think they should reimburse me, because they didn’t bother to issue a notice or recall, and they knew there was a potential problem. Would have taken them 2 minutes to send out notices.
