Carfax is inaccurately and fraudulantly reporting frame damage to my vehicle. They refuse to change the false record, stating that a "facility in Texas" reported it, and it is verified. They provide no name or location of the bogus "facility", and refuse to pursue the numerous inconsistencies of this fraudulent report. They do provide a zip code of the reporting facility. Interestingly, the zip is from a town with a population of 800, with no frame shops. I have owned my vehicle since it was new, and do all maintenance myself. Maybe I am getting old, but I have absolutely no memory of my car ever having frame damage. Funny, isn't it?
To correct a record, they require you to fax documentation. I had to fax the documents 6 times before they received them. It took 2 weeks, although they state they will make corrections within 48 hours. I even e-mailed the documentation in 5 different formats, which they refused to read "for security reasons". They will not give you a phone number, and insist you conduct your business solely over the internet, which is very cumbersome, and they do not respond to any questions.
If you call carfax, nobody will help you unless you are a business setting up an account..e.i. they don't want to deal with you unless you give them money. They send you to a phone tree, in which no matter what selections you make, you are always are told to e-mail them. They lose faxes...like 5 in a row. They are an internet only service that refuses to open e-mail attachments. How do you conduct business on the internet without virus scans, so you can open essential documents?
I discovered the false record when I went to sell my car. In the modern world, "carfax.com free record check" pulls up every time somebody looks at my car's add. They falsely advertise frame damage to everybody that view my ad!
This is a sham business, that is only interested in the volume of money, not in the accuracy of their product.
