Smart Choice Health Care formerly Healthcare Advantage and Priority Health

Smart Choice Health Care formerly Healthcare Advantage and Priority Health

After reading the other posts on this site regarding Smart Choice Healthcare, now Smart Choice Health Care, and formerly Priority Health and Healthcare Advantage, I found it necessary to describe my experience and warn anyone seeking Health services from this Plantation/ Ft. Lauderdale group to forego any agreement or purchase with this company.

The name changes alone should cause the average consumer to be concerned, but the over 15 other complaints on complaints.com should warrant further discernment. Finally, hopefully my complaint will help resolve any doubt as to the trustworthiness and competency of this company. My initial contact with this company was on September 3, 2005, in which I purchased there health care plan for $374.95. I had just transferred jobs and with a family of 5 I wanted peace of mind for the few months until my new insurance went into effect. That day I did not purchase peace of mind but a six month headache that is still not resolved. That day I was told I would recieve a packet within 7-10 days - after several weeks I inquired about not recieving anything only to be promised it will be there in about a week. "About a Week" is a favorite phrase and lie of this misorganization. After two more weeks, I realized I had made a mistake and canceled my plan without having recieved any information. I was told the refund check would be sent out October 15th. It was never sent, and has to this day Feburary 11 still has not been recieved.

I have been lied to tens of times, hung up on a few times, promised to be called back but never was, and told to call numerous numbers to hunt down my refund. All of these problems existed without even ever using the product, thank goodness I never had to deal with the shortcomings of the product itself as I have read from others horrendous accounts. To make a long story short - I continue to wait for my refund of $374.95 and am promised almost on a weekly basis that it is on its way. But enough is enough, when one week turns into 18 company's need to be held accountable. The only "smart choice" regarding Smart Choice Health Care is to run away from it as fast as you can.

I posted yesterday of my troubles with this compnay. I also looked up the insurance bearu for the state of tx becuse that was the address on there corprate website. I filed a formal complaint about their services and called the head customer service guy to inform him i did so. Today I got a call from that head guy saying ALL my funds were being returned totaling over 1600!!! They apologised for any misunderstandings and requested Our "Relationship" and membership be terminated. WOW! never expected that! They still suck and your results may not be as blessed as me but Id try what ever means necessary to not be taken advantage of! GOOD LUCK!

I signed up with them in January due to an unplanned pregnancy inital pay of 397.00 the Dr was covered for 10% off one bill for an ultrasound of 600.00 so i save 60!!!! Now i have paid 179.00 for the last 8 months only to find out NO hospitals are covered for me to give birth at! they offer nothing but the last 179.00 they stole from my account yesterday back! I filed a complaint with the state board of insurance in texas as that is the state on their mailing address. But this wont be solved and I HATE this company! I was told anywhere my Dr worked would be covered "umbrella" now being told by hospital there wrong. Dont buy from them I wish I knew before hand. im out 1811.00- I dont need anyones opinion I feel dumb enough for falling for this scam but I appreciate any input on how to get any funds back from them!

Thanks for taking the time to post this. I've just tried to cancel payment, having signed up on the phone and have also cancelled my bank card as a precaution. I don't hold out any hope for getting back the $434 initial outlay and don't expect ever to hear from Smart Health Advantage Programme ever again. However I do ask myself why these people have not been put out of business? They appear not to have one single general medical practitioner signed up in the entire state of Pennsylvania - not at all what they claimed in their sales call! Please DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY, or any similarly named company, the pleasure of stealing your money.
