Vonage VOIP phone service

Vonage VOIP phone service Home phone service Vonage VOIP Broadband phone service Vancouver, BC, Canada --- I switched to Vonage in late November attracted by the great price. $40 for unlimited calls in Canada and the US, and it included voicemail, caller ID, etc. After using it for a few months, I can't recommend it to anyone who wants a trouble free phone. If you are willing to put up with various annoying issues on a regular basis then it may work for you. The phone does work ok at times, but I did have these problems: - voicemail unavailable. The voicemail server crashed a few times, I could not retrieve voice mail nor could anyone leave me messages - calling voicemail sometimes requires two or three tries - when people are leaving messages, they are cut off after about 10 seconds. Ongoing issue. - stutter dial tone that notifies you that new voicemail has arrived - works when it wants to - outgoing caller ID doesn't always work. When I call people they say my number shows up as some strange number in the 250 area code or does not show up at all - sometimes the phone does not ring. My wife and I are both home, someone calls my house then my cell. I answer the cell and they say "I just tried to call your house" but the phone never rang. Other times I pick up the phone and see that a message was left a few minutes earlier but the phone never rang. - Calls to support have not been able to resolve any of the issues. Their most common suggestion is to unplug my device for two minutes, plug it back in, try again. That never solves the problem. I'm done with Vonage, could be an option for a second line if you want cheap long distance, but it's not ready to be a primary phone.
