PNC Bank Practices

PNC Bank Practices

I have so many complaints about the practices of this bank. Ever since they

bought out Riggs, I have had nothing but problems. I went make a depost the

other day of a check that was made out to my husband as well as others to

me. They told me I could not deposit the one to my husband because they

could not verify that he had endorsed it. They indicated that they paid a

check which subsequetnly made my account overdrawn. Then they paid 9 items

cheging my $31 per item, then because the overdraft charges were so much,

they retuened the original item they said that they had paid which caused

the overdraft int he first place.

There are so many other things that I can tell you that it would just take

too much time. I strongly encourage people – DO NOT bank with PNC Bank.

They have awful and unfair banking practices.

On Dec. 17, 2008, two months ago, PNC suspended my checking accounts for "fee abuse". They have not closed these 2 accts, just suspended them, making the money unavailable. They falsely accused me by phone of owning and operating an atm machine in my home! They have not sent me a letter and the banker who did this will not return my phone calls.

They charge $2 per transaction at an atm they do not own, but reimburse this amount if you keep more than $2000 in checking. They may also make a little on each atm transaction. Apparently they can just indefinitely suspend your accounts and use your money as they wish. They don't close the checking accounts, just hold your money with no communication. Who would keep any money with PNC? In this situation you can't get your money out.

Please inform me if you get a class action law suit started. there is one going on against Bank of America right now for this. I want to join one against PNC. I am tired of dealing with customer sales reps who don't care how wrong this is. I just lost an entire paycheck because my wife accidentally wrote a check from the wrong checkbook. Innocent mistake. 14 Overdraft fees because they claim to order pending checks from largest to smallest in order to "Protect you" because the largest may be a rent [ayment or something like that. This is an outright lie!! It also just so happens that this makes the bank the most profit... my email is bednerbbatyahoodotcom

I'm in!!

I'm all for Class action suit against PNC. I have been banking with them for years and the account is in my name. I have been depositing my husbands checks through the ATM for years and PNC has been putting them through. I just deposited another one of his checks and all of a sudden they decided they couldn't put it through because his name is not on my account. This made my account go into the negative so I made another deposit to cover those charges in addition to other checks coming through and they charged me 9 NSF fees still leaving my account in the negative; AND this is after speaking to a representative and she stated to me that they would NOT charge me any NSF fees. They also stated they mailed my husbands check to my home and I haven't recieved it yet! After speaking to the representative, SHE told me that the checks should have never gone through. THIS WAS THEIR OVERSIGHT AND I SHOULD NOT BE PENALIZED FOR THEIR MISTAKE. I was NEVER informed that I couldn't deposit his checks into my account and since they had done it before many, many times I figured it was ok.PNC does not care for it's customers. All they care about is taking "poor" people hard earned money. I will fight this and I will be writing a letter to the better business bureau and anyone else I can think of to get them investigated!

I just wrote a long complaint to the Better Business Bureau about their NSF fees. I've finally had it. I want to write Senators, Congressmen, whoever it takes to this policy illegalized. In the meantime I'm switching banks. Any suggestions?

I also have had several problems with PNC, and thought i was a customer in good standing with them since i put over 80K a year into their bank, a nice percentage of which they charge me in overdraft but altering the dates of the purchases, from largest to smallest in order to profit the most from their NSF fees, bank of America has already settled on a class action suit for the same reason, and this new policy of charging NSF for pending transactions is ridiculous!!!

I have also had problems with them. They allow transactions to go through and charge $36 paid check fee if you go over the available balance, regardless of whether those checks have actually been paid out by PNC. I just had to pay them a fee for an account for which the ledger balance never dipped below $130! The practice of "overdraft protection", where the bank pays the fee rather than declining the transaction unfairly preys on students and other low income individuals who do not have the means to pad their accounts with "safety" funds. Yes, people need to exhibit personal responsibility. However, the banks are unfairly taking advantage of people for their own gain by allowing overdrawn funds without warning and then charging $25-$35 for it, which amounts in some instances for up to 3500% interest for a temporary loan. If credit cards tried to charge a fee like this it would be dubbed usary. PNCs response to my asking to waive the "courtesy service" of overdraft "protection" was that I could cancel my check card and use cash, which is simply unreasonable this day and age. I also agree that these practices must stop and would definately be in favor of seeing class action taken against PNC and other banks with similar practices.

I also have had many NSF charges lately, because of PNC charging NSF fees for pending transactions. They changed their policy lately to allow this without any advance warning to customers who rely on online banking. Now, I can check my account online daily and still have no idea what they are charging me fees for since my account can be NSF with a positive balance!!! Run, switch banks before they take your whole paycheck too!!!

This must be the worst bank in the country. They buy out smaller banks to get their customers and then start ripping them off. I am fed up with them and am moving all of my PNC accounts elsewhere. I am a real estate investor and deal with many banks, so I am quite knowledgeable. Take your business elsewhere---anywhere else.

I hAVE HAD SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS IN CHARGES RECENTLY AND MY ACCOUNT WASN'T EVEN OVER DRAWN. THEY HOLD CASH DEPOSITS FOR 24 HOURS, UNLAWFULLY HOLD CHECK DEPOSITS LONGER THAN THE DATE SHOWN ON THE DEPOSIT SLIP. TO TOP IT OFF THEY CHARGE OVER DRAFT FEES ON PENDING CHARGES THAT HAVE NOT POSTED TO THE ACCOUNT. NOT JUST ONCE BUT TWICE. THEY CHARGES FEES ON CHECKS THAT THERE IS FUNDS TO COVER. POOR POLICY AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE SINCE CHANGED BANKS. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIND SOMEONE TO FILE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AGAINST THEM
