Car Rental Italy Sixt Holiday Cars I made an internet reservation from the USA for a car in Italy on October 4, 2006 and received a return email confirmation for the booking. When I arrived at the Sixt desk at the Rome airport on Oct 7 I was told by the agent that the confirmation was not correct and that it was subject to availability of the class of car at the Rome airport. He said that since there were no such cars available, I did not have a confirmed reservation. I spent the next hour looking for a suitable replacement, which I found at Eurocar. I returned home to find that Sixt had charged my credit card on Oct 4 with a Euro 640 charge. I complained about this in an email to Email User on my return home on Oct 21, but did not receive a reply or a reversal of the charge. On October 25, I complained to the contact address on Sixt’s website www.e-sixt.com, and received a reply on the same date that my request had been forwarded to their customer service at cs-Email User . As of November 8 I have not received a response or a credit to my charge account. I have challenged the charge with VISA.
EuroCar, on the other hand was excellent, even though I was a walkup at their counter and in a sorry mood. The car was in excellent condition and the charge, competitive with Sixt’s, at the end of the week was exactly as I expected.
