Complaint against Parago.com, a company that handles McAfee rebates

Dear Sir or Madam,


 


I would like to file an complain against Parago.com, a company that apparently handled my McAfee mail-in rebates.


 


On July 14 2006 I bought McAfee Internet Security Suite 8.0 at our local store Fry’s Electronics in Renton, WA. My purchasing decision was made based on the rebate offer they advertised: $35.00 plus another rebate in the amount of $30.00 for existing McAfee product owners. Both rebates together should have made my purchase to be “free”, since the total price was $65.00 plus 8.8% sales tax.


 


I was able to collect all the necessary information that was required by the rebate instructions and mailed it in on time. On September 2nd I have received the acknowledgement from Email User, which stated “We just wanted to let you know we have received your rebate submission for $35 Mail-in-Rebate on McAfee Internet Security Suite 2006 w/MP3 Player at Fry's Electronics or outpost.com.” I was surprised by the dollar-amount that it stated, but I thought maybe the rest of it will come from a different source or at different time. So I decided to wait.


 


As it was taking longer than they promised, I went to their website, which they said to go to check on the rebate status - www.RebatesHQ.com, and filed an enquiry with my mailing address change to a PO Box, along with the question about the remaining rest of my rebate. A response came back on the second business day from Email User, which was written by the gentleman named Mark of Promotions Customer Service, who said the check in the amount of $35 was already mailed out and he offered a replacement check. He didn’t answer my question about the missing $30 rebate, so I replied asking why he didn’t answer my question.


 


About a week later, another email came, but this time from Joe of Promotions Customer Service, saying that they have updated my mailing address and the replacement check is on the way. And again – no word about my second rebate. I replied again with the thread to complain. I got no response ever since my last email on December 6th. But I did receive the replacement check in the amount of $35.
