Vonage Complaint Dec 2006

Vonage Complaint Dec 2006 Les From Ontario I signed up for Vonage in March 2006. The land-line service worked fine for most of the time. It occasionally knocked out my cable Internet, but resetting it would get it working again. In November 2006 I ordered their WIFI device to use in Canada. Received it from Vonage and attempted to get it working on my wireless platform at home and several other hotspots in town and it never connected to any open ports. I traveled to Canada trying the device everywhere I could and it would never connect, called tech support over 50 times within 2 weeks of my receiving the device and they occasionally hung up. Failing to get the device to ever work I called to cancel the service and the 4th account manager I spoke to that day persuaded me to switch to a VTech cordless land-line phone instead. I’d previously told them I had moved to Canada but, they sent it (the new package) to my old US address where I no longer resided. In the meantime I returned the defective Wifi phone to Vonage in NJ at my expense. When I finally received the new VTech replacement (I had my wife sending it to me from the States) I was shocked to see that they had sent another Wifi phone instead of the Vtech phone they suggested I switch to. I called them 12/28/06 to cancel the service and return the new WIfI phone. After 6 disconnections with customer service and hang-ups with CSR from the Philippines and so, I was frustrated at having to start all over again and again each time a new CSR came on the line. At concluding my 2hr calls with Vonage, they charged me $39.99 to cancel the WIFI service and an additional $40.00 or so for a rebate on the phone I paid $179.00 for. It also appeared they were still charging me for my previous land-line that should have been canceled when I switched my number to the WIFI and moved to Canada. I’m now being charged a disconnect fee for that land-line service too. So now I'll have to pay $25.00 to return the WIFI - an item that was sent incorrectly back to the States from Canada. Vonage told me they didn't want it back, and that they would not return my money… I’ve been out of service for 2 months and I’m out well over $290.00. I'm stuck with a land-line modem and a WIFI phone I do not need.. Be warned of crappy service from these folks.
