Maytag Neptune Washer

My Neptune washer was purchased in July 2006. One of the selling points was the quietness of the washer. About 6-weeks ago when the machine seems to be in the pump cycle it makes a horrible noise - almost like a grinding noise and it only seems to get louder & louder. I did purchase the extended warranty and called for service. The service technician came out and said that it was a vibration and that there was nothing he can do, that the machine is getting older etc., etc. and that the front load washers have these kind of issues. If I had known this was an issue when I purchased the washer I most certainly have gone with another brand.

Has anyone else had this type of issue with their washer?
