Home Depot At Home Installation Service -- Roofing Home Depot At Home Installation Services (Roofing) Lombard, IL
On October 5, 2006, I contacted Home Depot At Home services to install a roof on my mother's home and garage. After meeting with one of their sales representatives and discussing the matter with my family we decided to use their services. A week after we had made arrangements for home depot to install the roof one of my siblings decided to remove the roofing of the garage. An amended was made to the original contract and it was signed on November 7, 2006. Three weeks later, we heard no word from Home Depot. We contacted Home Depot and was given the run around. Each person we spoke with gave us different start dates. By December 8, 2006, we finally spoke with a project manager. After reviewing our files the project manager informed us that they, "Dropped the Ball". That is, the paper work had not gone through. Their reasoning was based on our changing the original order (removing the shingling of the garage from the contract) and that the contract was signed under two different sibling names. We argued that it was all bogus excuses. The project manage agreed and said they would rush the paperwork through. A week later, still no word from Home Depot. Again, we telephoned the project manager and was told that the type of shingles we wanted installed had to be done in weather above 45 degrees, something which was never discussed on signing of the contract. At this point, my family and I were totally annoyed by the lack of customer service Home Depot had displayed. We told the project manager that we were going to cancel the job. It was only then, they seem to spring into action. The manager over the first project manager said that he could begin the work on December 19th. On Monday, December 18th, we received a call stating they could not start the job until Thursday December 21. They said the delay was due to having to wait for approval for a building permit from the city we lived in. One would have thought something like obtaining a building permit would have been taken care of by the project manager beforehand. Six weeks after the signing of the contract, the work was finally started. With Christmas only days away, my family and I were concerned about the work product we would receive. We specifically told the project manager, in no uncertain terms, that we did not want the job rushed. The project manager assured us that the workers would do a good job. Well, as of today, December 27, we have NOT received a good job. We are greatly dissappointed by the shoddy workmanship from Home Depot. Not only does our roof still leak but the project manager took it upon himself to tell the supervisor working on the job to dispose of our gutters and leaders. The supervisor said it was in bad shape and the project manager said to discard it. At no time did Home Depot contact us to ask whether or not we wanted to keep our gutters and leaders.
Due to the bad experience we received from Home Depot I would NOT recommend their roofing service. From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Wednesday, 27-Dec-06 15:55:46 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
