Cleary Metal Building---inadequate garage door for our area Cleary Building Corporation, headquarters in Verona, WI, but we worked with the Sheridan, WY office. After quite a bit of research and bids we decided to have a metal building built (42 x 50') on our property in Banner, WYoming. The package was dropped on Aug. 30 and it took them til Sept. 30 to finish a job that was supposed to take 4-5 days. I had to make several calls to the WI corp office to get their workers to show up and finish it. They got it started & then went to other jobs and left us hanging. I got a call from my neighbor, the day before Thanksgiving, who said my garage door had blown in during some wind in the night. My warranty from Cleary says that the building is warranted for 1 year against defects in material and workmanship in anything provided by Cleary. It was less than 2 months from the time the building was finished until the door blew in and they won't stand behind it. It is almost Christmas and I am still waiting on them to decide what to do. They now say it is an insurance issue, I say it is a faulty door that was not adequate to withstand Wyoming winds and they told me several times the door was rated to 95 MPH winds. Now they say it was rated to withstand 45 MPH winds. Just a 50 MPH difference!!! We have several $1000 worth of belongings, building material, etc. in the building and it can't be locked up and we're 2500 miles away. We live in Georgia. We clearly, many times, told their sales rep that we wanted to be sure the doors, windows and building construction would be able to withstand wind, snow, etc., and were assured they were using a top-of-the-line door rated to 95 MPH. Cleary told me to call the door company and ask them to replace it. I didn't even know the name of the door company until now. I tried and they won't talk to me because my contract wasn't with them, it was with Cleary Bldg. Corp. Cleary should be ashamed for not standing behind their product. Their warranty is worthless. I just want anyone who might be considering using them to know what to expect if they have any problems. Once the building is finished, you must allow them to hang various shamrocks, weather vanes and Cleary signs. If you take them down or obscure them in any way, they will void your warranty. You have absolutely NO rights as a property owner. I did not want that junk all over my building, but I went all the way to the top and they threatened me. Just remember when you see that Shamrock, it's not there by choice. Having read the previous post, I guess I should just take the signs down. Looks like their warranty is worthless anyway.
