2006 Maytag/Whirlpool MAH6700AWW Washer

2006 Maytag/Whirlpool MAH6700AWW Washer

On April 3rd 2006 I purchased a Maytag front load washer from Lowes.

The first washer jumped around so much that Lowes replaced it.

After several months, the machine would get into high speed spin and

the front metal face plate would screech loud enough to be heard

throughout the house.

I called service who first poured some sort of grey playdoh behind the

panel. This worked for a while. the machine then began bouncing and

walking.

I called for a second service and was told that a control board and

tap kit for the face plate were needed.

Service came out a third time and replaced the control board, but did

not replace the face plate tap kit.

The solution Whirlpool came up for repairing their adopted machine was

a control board that skips the spin cycle every ten minutes. At

54,44,34,24,14,and 6 minutes, the machine avoids extracting the water

and soap from the clothing and skips down by 4 minutes.

I called to complain.

the sent a serviceman for the fourth time that said I really don't

need a machine that spins at 1200 RPM and left without repairing the

problem.

I called again an another serviceman came out and said the board and

shocks were faulty and ordered another board.

They ariived for the 6th time December 2nd 2006. It was the same tech

who told me I did not need a machine to run on high. He refused to

repair the problem. He told me that I could not underload or over load

the machine. If I had single articles that were colorfast and needed

to was by themselves, I needed to wash them by hand. He told me under

no circumstances should I ever use the machine on high. He told my

wife that we need to load the machine loosely at 75% all the time or

do not use it. He left.

I called Whirlpool/Maytag and was told that they will not repair or

replace the machine. I could call another service company (not theirs)

and pay for my own service. I called a second operator and was told

under no circumstances should I wash heavy items like towels or

pillows and that I must not wash single articles by themselves.

As far as I am concerned this is like buying a top of the line Porsche

and then being told I can't drive it over 25 and whatever I do don't

play the radio when 2 people are riding.

The machine and customer service are defective. Please do not make the

same mistake and avoid this model.
