TJ Maxx

The TJ Maxx store in Venice FL has a known problem of mold in the ladies dressing room. I got a whiff of the mold immediately upon entering the room. Tried on one dress, and left, my chest had started to contrict and tighten in response to the attack on my respiration system within just a few minutes.

An elderly lady was standing guard on the gates to the dressing room, and I talked to her. I felt for her, having to work in a health compromising situation like mold. She said that someone else had complained about it, but nothing was done. She did not feel as if TJ Maxx would ever consider her complaint regarding it, and was hopeful that my complaint might help. I hope it does.

I spoke to the manager (Dec 15, approx 10:15 pm) about what I had experienced. She stated the mold issue had previously been brought up to management and nothing was done. I hope that the more people that complain, the more they are willing to take responsibility for the health and welfare of their employees and customers.

Our elderly should not have to work in health compromising situations. The public should not have to endure health compromising situations, whether they are highly suscpetible to the effects of mold or not, it still affects them.

This seems to be a lack of concern, a health issue, and a working environment condition.

Whether their lease stipulates that they are responsible for the roof leaks (which seems to be where the water intrusion may be coming from) or from air conditioning duct perspiration (which could be), or the landlord is, some one should mandate that it be remedied. Most insurance policies now have some sort of mold remediation included as part of the policy. The original origination of the mold would still be the responsibilty of either of either the lessee or lessor to fix as an expense in doing business.

IF there is a TJ MAXX representative out there, please take control of the situation and remedy it.
