Horse hauling nationwide - All-State Horse Express Hello,
I would like to file a complaint against a company named "All State Horse Express". My horse was hauled from Michigan to California, and due to driver negligence and serious errors in judgment, the horse trailer tipped and the horses lost their footing and fell down in their small trailer stalls. Two horses including mine were stuck in a down position for one hour, and had to be winched out of the trailer. My horse suffered the worst of all, and it appears that he has permanent brain and Central Nervous system damage.
The bystanders and attending veterinarians cannot understand why any driver of any vehicle would try to make the turn this driver made, let alone with horses in tow.
Allstate Horse Express' driver, Pat Zeller, admitted responsibility the day this happened, asked the vets how much $ she owed them for this, apologized for her error in judgment, etc., This happened on Tuesday December 12th, but her company has since advised her to shift the blame elsewhere. The company did not tell me about the incident until two hours after it happened, and refused to give the ranch owner who cared for my horse, my contact information so that she could talk to me about the incident.
This leaves me with a seriously damaged horse, thousands of dollars in vet bills (the horse was treated by three veterinarians), and continued vet bills for his ongoing care, and an "unknown" prognosis for years to come. Neurological injuries can show up years into the future, so one never knows the exact damage incurred. This horse was in perfect health when he loaded into the trailer in Michigan, and he was blank slate so to speak, with no past injuries or health issues. Now I have a damaged horse and this hauling company, supposedly licensed with the DOT and ICC, takes no responsibility for their negligence.
