consumer fraud

In august I hired a firm, Multi-Task computer Services, which advertised in the yellow pages. Richard Lederman, the owner, came to my house to install my Verizon DSL. His ad said he provides in-home computer services and repairs. He worked on my computers (2) for more than 10 hours one day, returned the next, and then told me he had to take the tower (hard drive) home to complete the job because there were errrors in my system. I paid him $342.00 plus another $100 for upgrading the memory on my computer. He told me he installed a new security system, MacAfee because mine was outdated.

The computers worked more slowly after the installation than before. I called him and he returned and worked several more hours. He charged me another $100.00, but I put a stop on the check because the computers still were not working correctly. He offered to return again, but I told him not to come back.

Two weeks later I hired another person who told me that the DSL had not been installed, and that the security system that had been installed was outdated as of May,2006. He told me that I needed to have Microsoft XP installed. He installed all the systems which took about 3 hours. I paid him $502.00 which included the XP.

I called Richard Lederman and asked him to return my money because he didn't do any of the things he was supposed to do. He agreed to do so and told me I would have $100 the first week in November, and $100 every month until the entired sum was paid.

He has not repaid me and I have been unable to get in touch with him because he does not return my calls. I want to sue him but I have no address. The phone book says ?South River New Jersey.

I spoke to the police and they told met that the phone number was located at 30 Main Street in South River. I went there but nobody in the building knew anything about Richard or his company.

I need to contact him because now I'm afraid he might have taken some personal information from my hard drive when he had it in his home.
