Samsung cellular telephone and Sprint PCS

Samsung cellular telephone and Sprint PCS Sprint PCS, Gainesville Florida and Samsung Cellular Telephones Recently, I purchased two Samsung SPH-A580 cellular telephones from the Sprint PCS store in Gainesville Florida. One of the two telephones ceased functioning abruptly while we were traveling and less than two months after purchasing it. On returning to Gainesville, I took the faulty telephone to the Sprint store and was told that they would repair it but it would cost us between $15 and $60. We were given the option of sending the telephone back to Samsung for warranty (one year) service. On contacting Samsung, I was told that they would accept the telephone for service but I would have to pay for shipping. Also, it would take about three weeks for it to be repaired (presumably plus transit time). This phone has not been mistreated, wetted or damaged. I have never encountered a situation where one had to pay to get a warranted product repaired when it simply failed to function. I don't understand why I am expected to pay for the failure of THEIR faulty product. Additionally, I don't understand how Sprint can market these telephones, with their name and logo on them, yet accept NO responsibility for their proper function. This level of DIS-service seems extreme, even for Sprint. G.M.
