GE Airconditioning Unit- Defective and Bad service related to Health crisis!

I purchased a GE Built in Air conditioning unit in June 2004. I purchased the product for nearly $700. I used it sproadically during the summer months. It never went down below 72 degrees, and I never thought twice about the product.

This year, during the heatwave, the product broke and did not go below 83 degress, a clear sign that it is broken. I called the service at GE and they showed up and advised me that it was broken. The compressor needed replacement. Althought this lasts about 5 years, I got stuck with a bad compressor unit.

GE servicemen advised me that it will be scheduled for a pick up within a short time, and then they will take it, service it, and return it within about 4-5 days. but he cannot guarantee. In the meantime, he gave me no telephone to call, no direct person, or where the service location that ths product will be, or whether I can get a temporary product.

I advised the GE representatives that I have a medcial condition which requires me to control my body temperature. The heat causes me to lose sleep and also it causes hyperventilations, two causes of my fainting and seizures. And it is imperative that I have an air conditioning unit for my medical purposes. And if need be, I can certainly have my doctor who has treated me for more than 3 decades to call or write. Should I fall from a spell and hit the wrong side of my head, it can become life threatening.

I advised the GE customer service as well, that they need to give some adequate assurances, a timeline and accomodation for the product they remove ezpecially when the product's purpose is for during these months. She gave me no assurances. Instead, I have to wait?! They advised me to write to GE customer relations person

Ray Graft, Customer Relations Manager, AP6 Suite 129, Louiseville, KY 40225.

I intend to do so. If it was a refrigerator or any other appliance, it's not health threatening, but heat and air conditioning during certain relevant months are health critical!
