ame of product / service Symantec/Software/Upgrade The subscription for Noron AntiVirus 2005 was coming due this August 2006. Coming across an online ad to download a trial version for sixty days. I fiqured why not.It worked well and a week into the trial. At the Symantec web site an upgrade was offered. The purchase was made two weeks into the purchase I was unable to access Outlook Express. On the web there was a referal to the same problem listing Symantec's Knowledge Base.Unable to fix the problem I contacted text based support. After many tries with different technicians and being disconnected from their end several times(always at a fishy point) I went to Microsoft Techsupport paid the 35.00 fee and found beyond any doubt that it was in fact a Problem with Norton System Manger service being unable to find a shared file between the OE and Norton Internet Protection. I contacted Symantec costumer support and asked to redownload NIP.(I was asked to pay a fee for the extended download: I declined at the downloaded all pertent information went into an account that was opened just for this eventuality) At this time I was told 1} that I misrepresented myself when I bought the product because I had the trial version on my system? SO I bought it at Symantec's web site clearly marked $49.99 " Upgrade" the Version Number of the Norton AntiVirus software is still cleary marked on the Norton Protection Center under About NIP. 2). I was told it was an OEM installation. In fact it was from a CD bought at Best Buy and subscriptions for two years running had been purchased.Since I was obviously a thief they were refunding my money.I'm still waiting for the credit.Later after complaing I was offered the chance to purchase the product again and apply for a refund? Shame on you the first time. Shame on me the Second. If they can treat a costumer as a theif and even when confronted with the facts fail to offer and apology. Maybe saving face is more important in India then satifying a customer maybe thats how they deal with customer support. Confrontation instead of service, or maybe there is some truth to the rumors of Identifacation/credit card theft there. All I know is I'll never purchase a Symantec product again. Between the free spyware prograqms and microsofts defender and this cable provider's Virus software.
