DREAM OF A LIFETIME SWEEPSTAKES PREMIER READERS SERVICE P.O. BOX 72558 MARIETTA, GEORGIA 30007 1.800.251.5249 Hi, My name is Dontavia Fletcher and I am 18 years just starting to experience the real life. The first bad experience is with Premier Readers Service. I was told I was going to receive $1,000.00 for subscribing to there magazine; which was a lie. I feel I was cond into subscribing to something I really didn't know about. I never receive the magazines and when I called to cancel the subscription after the company had taken $39.88 from my banking account; I was advised that the subscription can not be cancelled because I gave them a verbal agreement over the phone for the subscription. I never signed anything or mailed in the agreement that they sent to me. The supervisor Jamie Post was very rude and arrogant. When I asked Jamie to speak with someone that was over her she stated "there's no one over me, you can't cancel the service we'll start billing your bank card and we'll just start billing you". This was very disturbing to me, I didn't know how to handle it. I had my mother give them a call and my mother spoke with Jamie Post (supervisor)and she didn't get anywhere with her. What is my next step? Who do I need to speak to now to fix this problem? There has to be some over her!!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!! This way they can no longer take money out of it. Second, or maybe before the first?, file a complaint with your bank against fraud taking your money 39.88. They will investigate and may or may not give the money back. If it was a debit or credit card, they will normally tell you it has to be closed and you can have a new number issued. If it is electronic pymt directly out of your bank acct, then yes you will have to close your acct completely to stop any possible future withdrawals with or without a complaint filed. Third, file a complaint with the BBB (better business bureau). You can do this online. Fourth, it was over the phone so you have the right to file a complaint against the company with the Governor of your state. There are other options as well to file a complaint with regarding online sales as they are regulated to death and usually can be found to violate a number of laws required to follow in order to sale over the phone. Last but not least, you DO HAVE the right to cancel at any time verbal contract or not. They can not continue to take money from your acct if you cancel authorization with the sales co. (tho I would still complain at bank and close card or acct for safety). IF IT IS A BREACH of contract, they have to file in court and serve you and it has to be litigated in front of a judge (which would cost more than 1 or 2 thousand dollars I am sure). It is not normally pursued for something so small in amt and due to the fact it is argued that it was fraud. You were conned into subscribing to a magazine. NEVER NEVER NEVER give a credit card, debit card or bank account number over the phone. Very dangerous to do! You in full going to pay 1,300. The CONTRACT is for 60 months of 4.99 a week the company is **** and they hire people and tell them they are cutting people and if you dont make your sales they "cut" you. I worked there it sucks and you get strict 10 minute breaks it sucks a 5 hour shift with only a 10 minute break anyways if it helps the company's REAL name is International Marketing Association INC. You can message me back on here and I will keep checking back here :) From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Friday, 28-Aug-09 01:27:46 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisWell, I don't know if this is too late since you had file this complaint long ago, but maybe for others to reference. I came across the same problem. For me, after I have gave telemarketing company all my information and agreed to the subscription, 2 to 5 days later I gave it a thought and found out it was a scam, and that the subscription was $3.99 a week and get the other 3 free but that means I pay for all 4 magazines anyway, because those magazines comes once a month anyway. So, I called my credit card company and have them closed down my account and send me a new one. I hope it help!
