To Whom it May Concern:
I am getting married in October and my poor, unsuspecting mother placed an order for a dress at Bridal Couture of Manhasset. The store is beautiful looking, in an affluent area, but is taking brides, bridesmaids & their families for the ride of their lives.
They made my mother pay a cash deposit and when they brought in the dress, 3 months after she ordered it, it was approximately 3 sizes too big, even though they took her measurements twice and ensured a "custom fit" dress with "hardly any alterations". When she tried it on, they lied and said the dress looked wonderful on her, even though the skirt could be pulled all the way around her chest. All service consultants disappeared, leaving her there with the dress, as they knew it was ordered incorrectly, but of course, never admitted it. The designer, Gail Patterson, quickly grabbed the dress and took it to the factory, and was extremely rude to my mother, yelling at her, saying she was being ridiculous.
My sister called her the next day to ensure that the dress would be fixed and Ms. Patterson yelled at her as well, trying to insinuate that my mother lost weight and that she was crazy. She assured her that the dress would be fixed and "would fit perfectly" when she returned. She returned on Aug 29th and the dress was still too big, with folds in the wrong places & a jacket that was swimming on her. Once again, they told her how "wonderful" she looked. She told them that she could not accept this dress and would be embarrassed wearing this to my wedding. They stated that "it was her dress now" & that they would not refund her money.
Upon further investigation, I found dozens of people that had the same experience. They bait & switch customers, promising one thing & delivering another. They are nice to customers until they order and then become the most rude, condescending, unethical, unprofessional group of people I have ever seen. There are endless posts online about experiences at this store on complaints.com, liweddings.com, & nycityweddings.com.
I am begging you to save future innocent victims from the fate that all of us have endured. I am still trying desperately to get back my mother's $750 deposit and they refuse to speak to me. This shop is ruining the wedding experience for many hopeful people and making what is supposed to be the happiest times of people's lives, miserable. I would appreciate any assistance you could give me in exposing this group, especially Gail Patterson. There are other complaints on this shop filed through the BBB under id 23607.
I am warning any people who are considering shopping here - DO NOT DO IT!
I sincerely appreciate your assistance with this and am hoping that you can help me make this right. Getting my mother's money back would be the best wedding present I could hope to get.
Sincerely,
