Empire Today / Laminate Flooring Empire Today - Massachusetts - Gross Overcharge While I am satisfied with the installation of my laminate floors by Empire's sub-contractor, and satisfied with the quality of the product, I was grossly over-charged, presumably by mistake, and cannot get a response of any kind from Empire. I was told that the rate for the floor and installation was competitive with Home Depot and Lowes... the Home Depot/Lowes price for the floor and installation turned out to be less than $6 a square foot, Empire's total bill came out to $17 a square foot (I had to calculate this myself since Empire would only quote total price). Either Empire made a mistake in calculation, in which case I would assume that a refund would have been forthcoming, or they overtly lied that their price was competitive. OK, I was stupid, I believed Empire when it assured me they were competitive and so I only checked on other prices after the installation. Listen, Empire advertises warehouse pricing, if they are charging $17 a foot where everyone else charges less than $6, then they are obviously guilty of false advertising. I expected to pay more for next day installation... but 3 times as much? That's robbery.
