Glendale Mitsubishi in California

On August 3, 2006, I purchased a new vehicle from Glendale Mistubishi in

Glendale, California. I traded in a vehicle that I had a balance due on,

which was financed through my credit union. One of the many pieces of paper

that I signed was a release of liability on the car I was trading in.

Three weeks later, on August 23, 2006, I noticed that the monthly payment on

the old car, had been withdrawn from my checking account. I had it set up so

that the credit union would automatically deduct the monthly payment from my

checking account each month. When I called the credit union, they told me

they had never received the payout from Glendale Mitsubishi and that I was

responsible for continuing to make the payments until they receive their

money.

When I called Glendale Mitsubishi (4 times before someone actually spoke

with me that knew what they were talking about) I was told that they had cut

a check back on August 7, 2006 and send it REGULAR MAIL to the credit union.

Not overnight, not certified, not wire transfer, just regular mail. It

appears that the check they send mysteriously disappeared.

Now here is the kicker. The check that disappeared not only had my checking

account number, and the VIN number to the car, but also my social security

number. My social security number is floating around out there for 2 weeks.

I asked Maggie at Glendale Mitsubishi to put a stop payment on the check and

immediately cut a new one and overnight it for delivery the next day

(Friday) since I wanted my car payment put back into my checking account.

She informed me that they would be waiting until Monday and if the check did

not show up Monday, they would cut another check at that time and overnight

it.

It is now Monday. I have called 4 times today and nobody is picking up the

phone or returning my calls. I am now still obligated to make the payments

on a car that they own, plus payments to Mitsubishi on the new car, plus

even if the payment hits tomorrow, I am still out the interest.

Avoid Glendale Mitsubishi in Glendale, California at all costs.
