GE side by side refrigerator and service, A and E service

I purchased a side by side fridge with the ice dispenser in the door in 2002. I was so excited because I finally would be able to get crushed ice all the time. WELL.....since then I have had very little crushed ice--unless I bust it up with a hammer! Rec'd a letter in June of this year where someone finally sued GE because of the problems with this type of fridge. I was able to have my doors replaced because GE realized that the doors were not thick enough for the freezer part to work correctly. Two service men came to my house and put the doors on and Bill( tech # 133080767) was the most rude and angry man I have met in a long time. When I ask him if they would take the old doors away, he said the trash people would pick them up, of course when I told him our trash does not pick up appliances he assured me , in the same tone he used the whole time he was here ,that they would . I called our trash immediately after they left and GUESS WHAT??!!, they don't pick up appliances!! So I called a 800 number on the receipt he gave me that said "to call for door pickup" . I was told I had to have an access code to even get through to anyone. I called Bill( on the number that showed up on my caller ID) to ask him for the code and GUESS WHAT??!! I never heard from him! I couldn't believe how he was talking to me-and I even ask him twice why he was upset with me! I was so glad when they left, but GUESS WHAT!!, the doors aren't even flush with one another and I am still getting cubed ice out of the crushed ice dispenser. To think I paid more money to have this feature and it never has worked properly! So I have to call for another service call and after SEVERAL runarounds I finally tell Shannon what I need and that Bill was NOT allowed in my house again. She assured me this would be okay, BUT GUESS WHAT!!! eleven days later Bill shows up at my door and I tell him he is not allowed in my house!! He asks if I want him to leave, of couse I said yes, but now I'm stuck again!!! I call again, and as seems to be the norm, SEVERAL runarounds later I talk to Joyce who told me Bill was the only tech that serviced this area. I ask to speak to a manager so she puts me on hold and tells me A and E can come out to fix the doors. They are to be here today between 8 and 5. I called last night to see if the time could be narrowed down and George couldn't tell me , so being the efficient person that I like to be, I called at 8:15 this morning and was told I was last on the list. After I come home at 10:45 I have a message to call A and E. GUESS WHAT!!! They called at 8:45 this am and since I wasn't home I was TAKEN OFF THE LIST!!!! I told Victoria I had called earlier and CONFIRMED my appointment 'time' .She offered no apology or explanation, just told me they could come out 8/24 between 8 and 5. I asked her if we could narrow that time down, she said no, which was just as good since I can't believe anything they tell me anyway!!! I WILL NEVER BUY A PRODUCT FROM GE AGAIN. I can't believe there isn't a local person I can talk to about any of this.

WELL, DON'T THINK YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE. I TOO HAVE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH MY GE PROFILE. WITHIN 5 YEARS, THE MOTHER BOARD WENT (HEATING MY REFRIG UP TO 134 DEGREES; THE ICE MAKER WOULD NOT DISPENSE ICE (3 MOS AGO) AND NOW THE REFRIG DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY; THE REFRIG HAS ICE (NOT FREEZER) CAKED ON IT'S BACK WALL FROM TOP SHELVE TO BOTTOM; THE FREEZER TEMP STARTED TO GO UP; AND THE WATER WILL NOT DISPENSE WATER. TO BOOT, THEY TELL ME TODAY THAT A AND E WOULD BE COMING TODAY BETWEEN 1-5 (AS OF 9 THIS MORNING)--THEN CAROLYN FROM A&E CALLS AT 2:30 TO SAY THEY CAN'T MAKE IT! BTW ALL TIMES I HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED REQUIRED 2 TO 3 TIMES RETURNING WITH PARTS...MORE TIME OFF FROM WORK.. I CALLED GE BACK SEVERAL TIMES TODAY....NO BIG SURPRISE HERE...THEY REALLY REALLY DO NOT CARE! THEY JUST WANTED ME TO SET ANOTHER APPT. IT'S OK THAT I HAVE TO TAKE MORE TIME OFF WORK..THEN THEY TELL ME THAT NO APPT IS WARRANTEED TO MAKE IT. NICE GOING GE...GOOD SERVICE...WHAT REALLY STINKS HERE IS THAT THIS PRODUCT IS A "LEMON"; YOU CAN'T GET THROUGH TO ANYONE AT GE WHO WILL LISTEN OR CARES; A&E (AUTHORIZED GE DEALER) IS NOT MAKING A GOOD STANDING FOR GE AND THEY COULD CARE LESS; AND LAST OF ALL, I HAVE NO RELIABLE WORKING REFRIGERATOR, SO I THINK BOTTOM LINE IS HERE I WILL HAVE TO GO OUT AND BUY ANOTHER ONE...IT JUST WILL NOT BE A GE!
