The customer service at Empire today is the most horrendous I have ever experienced! If you are considering using their service be sure to have the materials checked for defects prior to ripping apart your home. That was my first mistake. Another thing, and I should have known better, but don't agree to C.O.D. After the old carpeting was removed from my home on a Saturday and the materials were damaged they demanded the bank check (which of course was in the full amount because of the C.O.D.) Before they would install any carpeting. I offered a partial payment with a personal check but they refused and threatened to walk away until all of the materials would be available. Leaving us with our entire second floor - all of our bedrooms- unsafe to inhabit due to exposed tack strips. So I handed over the check in good faith and they installed three bedrooms and the hall. On a side note they didn't arrive until 4 pm and didn't leave until midnight. The customer service at the 800 numbers and the local scheduling department don't communicate well. We were promise a return on Monday with the additional carpet and I had to chase down the installation manager to even get on the schedule. I didn't pressure for a day but I wanted to be the first appointment of the selected day so that we didn't have to burn a vacation day for carpet installation that should have been done on a Saturday. The local installation manger told me the men would be at my home no later that 8 am and the work would take approximately 2- 3 hours to complete. A call at 8 told us 10. The call at 10 told us 12. Then a call at 12 told us 2 they showed up about 2:30. They stayed until 5. My husband could have gone to work and taken time at the end of the day if they were just honest with us about the time frame. I understand they are in New Haven and we are about 1
