Chase Auto Finance / Loan

Chase Auto Finance / Loan In December 2001 I purchased a 2001 GMC Sonoma through Chase Auto Finance. Chase Auto Finance offers the option to pay over the phone by check and they claim that you can post-date. I have only availed myself of this once, but will never do it again. Though my payment history has not been perfect, over the past 4 years there have only been a couple of payments made after the end of the grace period. These are recent and are due to medical debt, so I must budget very carefully. On this particular occasion, my payment was 4 days late and they called and offered me the option to pay by phone. I told the woman on the phone that I would make the payment that Friday at the bank. The representative pushed the pay by phone option. I repeated that I would not have the money until Friday, and she said I could post-date. They did not wait to process my check as promised, though I told the woman on the phone 3 times that the money would not be in the account until that Friday. It caused overdraft fees on my account. When I complained, I was told I would be sent a check for the overdraft fees. A month later when I called to inquire about this, I was told that my claim had been declined and I needed to fax them a statement from my bank proving the overdraft had occurred, and they would then "research" the issue. In time if I am aggressive enough, I may get the money back - that remains to be seen. However, the overdrafts caused me to have to go without my medication and of course, the burden of proving their error is on me. Furthermore, the people I spoke with on the phone were uncooperative and rude. I am also told there is no complaint department, but I may send a letter to their "mail stop." This is not the first problem I have had with them. At one point, they stopped billing me and it took months to get them to start billing me again. I kept up with my payments, but the first month I didn't get a bill my payment was late and it cost me a late fee which I was never able to recover. They don't make enough money, so they have to gouge the customer in every possible way? It seems to me that these people are unorganized and irresponsible. I will never deal with them again.
