After building my new house and bringing closure to my blacktop issue, I then had a fence installed around my yard. I obtained 3 quotes, and unfortunately went with the least expensive, and failed to check for references.

Here is my experience:

* The agreement was to have the fence installed at a set date. That date came & went, and no fence arrived. When I called Adam, the owner, he very sarcastically told me that it may be 2 more weeks.

* He was wrong- it was a total month later. Every time I called Adam to ask the status he rudely reminded me that it would be installed when it was installed. He had $1200 of mine as a deposit. I was stuck.

* A month later my fence was installed. So was a mess of cigarette butts, fence scraps, wood scraps and lunch trash. This is an acre yard, and new grass, so it was not easy to see items left laying in the yard.

* The workers left clips of wire all over the yard. A neighbor stepped on one injuring their foot- that's how we knew. I gathered up 18 chunks of sharp wire scraps.

* They also left several sharp blocks of wood all over the yard from cutting the ends of the split rail posts. These ends were pointed, and about 4-8 inches long. We found these when we finally were able to mow our new grass & they flew around the yard like missiles.

* I found one lose post and wire installed too low to the ground. I called several times to have the fence completed properly, and that too took a month. The very day the work was finished, Adam called me and DEMANDED I pay him the remainder of the money. I replied to hold on here....I had to wait over 2 months beyond our agreement for a decent product and you cannot even give me a few days to get you your payment? He immediately threatened to send me to the district justice as a non-payer!!!!!!!!! I could not believe this.

* Needless to say, I paid that same day, and I am trying to get 2 rails replaced that have since split (in 3 weeks). And as fate has it, no one returns my calls.

Bottom line, Adam & AL Fence are rude, unprofessional and lack customer concern. He never came out once to inspect the job- before or after. Had I the chance to do it over again, I would have paid the difference and used a reputable company that offers references. Since then, I have encountered 2 others in my area that had the same poor experience with AL Fence.
