CARPET INSTALLATION Business Information:
1-800-NYCarpet 759 Hicks Street Brooklyn, NY 11231
On 7/27/06 a representative from 1800nycarpet came to my home to provide a free at home service. The rep took measurements of my bedroom, showed me carpet samples, quoted a price of $375 that it would cost to have wall to wall carpet installed in my bedroom. I was satisfied with the price quoted and samples, but had some concerns that I expressed to the rep. I told him that due to my contractual lease agreement with building management, my carpet could not be stapled or bolted to the tile floor, and would therefore need an adhesive. I also expressed concern that the carpet and padding would need to be of a certain thickness, in order for my bedroom door to open and close freely. The rep assured me that they can install tactless and they can provide a padding that wouldn't block the door from opening freely. With that said, I gave the rep a deposit of $60. The rep told me my carpet would be ordered and someone would call me within two weeks to install. No one called in two weeks and by the third week I called the company. They first told me the job was done already, then checked their computer system and saw that it was not. I made an 8/15/06 appointment to have the carpet installed. when the installation men arrived, they came with a padding that could not fit with the carpet and did not want to install tactless. I called the company to resolve the issue, but was terrorized by the manager, disrespected, and verbally abused. He told the installation men not to install and said I wouldn't get my refund back.
