Auto Insurance / incomplete investigation and invasion of privacy

Business Name: AAA Insurance (California State Automobile Association

Inter-Insurance Bureau)

Address: PO Box 920 Suisun City, CA 94585-0920

Phone: 888-582-3008 (Claims Department)

Nature of complaint: invasion of privacy, mishandling of an insurance claim

Description of the complaint:

My co-worker's car was hit in the work parking lot. He is not sure when or

where it was hit, but he thought it was hit in the parking lot, and checked

all the cars in the lot and thought my car had some scratches that match his

blue paint. My scratch has been there for ages and it's black. Moreover, I

was not on site when he thought his car was hit so I told him that via a

security personnel.

He went ahead and filed his claim and gave them my license plate along with

my contact information without my consent. AAA Insurance called me so I

explained the above. The investigator agreed that everything was

circumstantial and they do not have enough evidence to pursue this case.

One month later I received a letter from AAA Insurance asking for my

insurance information. I have no reason to give it to them, so I called and

left a message that I am not involved in this incident. They did not return

my call. Another month past and I received a bill so again I called and left

a message explaining the same thing. Again nobody called me back.

Three months later I received a letter and a phone call from a collection

agency that they have a right to collect from me. I told them what happened

and sent a written statement along with a letter from the security officer

who helped the insurer in the beginning. The letter explained the

circumstances in which my name was erroneously sent to AAA Insurance.

AAA Insurance did not send an investigator to check my car and did not try

to confirm the fact that I was not at work at the time of incident by

talking to our security officer. This investigation is false and incomplete.

Moreover, they neglected my requests to correct the false claim. The entire

process is unjust and incompetent.

While I understand that they are trying to collect the money by whatever

means, this is an invasion of my privacy. This has caused my emotional

distress and loss in product icy.

Thank you,

Yuri Yoshikawa
