To Whom it May Concern:

While browsing through the complaints, I noticed that

it has been about a year since an issue has been

brought up concerning Waldron. To the trust-worthy

consumer, it may appear that the company has resolved

those issues. My recent encounter should disprove

that theory.

On the morning of 08/02/06, I found that my central

air conditioning unit had stopped functioning. The

forecast was for a high of 91 degrees. I looked in

the yellow pages to find an appropriate repair

company. I picked the company with the largest ad,

figuring that it had to be a respectable one. I spoke

with a receptionist, which explained that there would

be a $59.00 trip fee to come out to my house, so I

agreed. When the technician arrived (whom was

previously mentioned specifically in a prior

complaint), he secured payment for the trip charge

right away. After completing this task, he went out

to get the model number of my central A.C. unit. He

came back in and explained that there would be a

diagnostics fee of $381.00 for my particular unit.

Though it seemed a little outrageous, I agreed and he

secured the payment. The technician then went outside

for approximately five minutes and returned to tell me

that the “Capacitor” was no good. He looked in a book

and told me that the price to repair the capacitor for

my particular model was $967.00. Initially, I was

shocked at this amount. I specifically asked, “Is the

reason for magnitude of cost for this repair due to

the individual price of the capacitor?” The

technician explained that it was a very expensive part

and that attributed to the high amount for the repair.

Furthermore, he said that the quote was competitive

in the Pittsburgh area. With this being the only

knowledge I had to make a decision on, I agreed to the

repair. I again signed for the repair cost. The

technician then went to work. Approximately ten

minutes later, he came back inside to let me know that

he had completed the repair. I commented on the speed

of completion, to which he attributed “working on AC’s

for over 30 years.” I was a little skeptical that a

total of $1407.00 in repair costs could be completed

so rapidly. The technician then asked that I fill out

some papers, including a white card waiving my right

to a law invoked to prevent such practices (Unfair

Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law). My

skepticism led me to investigate the repair later that

night. I went out to the AC unit and found the

manufacturer of the capacitor, the part number, and

stocking code. After contacting multiple suppliers, I

found the unit cost of the capacitor to be

approximately $20. In an act of outrage, I contacted

Waldron. I asked a supervisor to verify, first, that

the charge was correct and not a mistake. He

confirmed that it was correct. He attempted to

dissuade my disgust by preaching of business operating

costs attributing to the repair. Furthermore, he

stated that the magnitude was justified by the "level

of convenience I was granted." A $20 part, $1407

repair; form your own opinion of "convenience."

I noticed that in a prior complaint a Waldron lawyer

attempted to "bully" a consumer with allegations of

slander resulting in a monetary lawsuit. As a

disclaimer, I am simply providing a detailed summary

of the events I incurred on that day. Prospective

consumers are encouraged to read my recollection and

form their own opinion.

It is sad that this company has found ways to take

refuge through the very laws that were created to

protect consumers.

When customer's call for emergency service they must understand that a lot goes into executing that immediate service.

Customers must understand that a part may cost a company much less than sold for, however, we maintain the licence and the insurance that is required to purchase that part that is so desperately needed at 2 AM on a weekend. When a family member cannot breath and they desire emergency service there is a price associated with those repairs, stocking parts, paying perdiums to technicians and general overhead.

All costs are quoted in advance and initialed and a customer can make an informed decision as to weather they want to have their defective equiptment repaired or shop around for a better deal. She approved and agreed to all costs and terms before we did any work and any repairs.

Therefore, if she did not like the estimate then she should not had authorized the work and kept the benifit of our services.

Although she complains about the cost, she seems quite happy with the quality of the repair. SHe failed to mention that after we repaired her unit she was greatly satified as it is still running today. We repaired her problems fast, the same day and she only complains about the cost. We did a perfect diagnostic and repair and she now has reliable AC.

We have served over 80,000 satisfied customers for over 25 years and some are more frugal than others and do not want to pay a profesional to work on their equiptment.

However, we have less than a quarter percent of those 80,000 customers that are unhappy with our services. We have sucessfully satisfied 99.99999% of our clients.

Cherry picking just the cost of the part would be unfair as an emergency repair company must have everthing ready on demand to make sure we come through for our customers.

One must understand that without the training of quality technicians, offices, special vehicles, generators, millions of dollars of truck stocked parts it cost more than the cost of the part to bring that high level of service to your customer.

Taxes on the offices, advertising, criminal checks on new employees, insurances, are just the begining.

We delievere fast, quality emergency services to our customers, however, a business cannot stay in business to service you again tomarrow for the price it costs for only parts. Other overhead that you cannot imagine is necessary to run these profesional service companies.

We are a real business, with real overhead. Not to be compared to a handyman that works from his garage or his 1975 elcomino without any up to date training or even business insurance or proper licencing. We are liceenced in heating, cooling, electrical and we are PA STATE CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL INSPECTORS.

We want to Thank our 79,805 and counting satisfied customers for making us the #1 same day heating, cooling, and electric contractors in PGH. We deliever where others fall short. Do not let a frugal customer that wants emergency service and approved all costs in advance stop us from delievering you a fast and quality (regular or emergency) repair or installation same day.

The problem with the internet, they only have negeative sites to collect data on a business. We have customer's that would gladly post their satisfaction if the internet had a customer satisfied web site. This site refuses to take compliments on businesses. Anti business web sites cannot be relied on as the are bias.

Thank You,
