bridal dress alteration

bridal dress alteration To whom it may concern,
I went to the Houston Bridal and Formal Gallery and bought my wedding dress. Everything went well- I even bought my bridesmaid dresses there. I was happy with the service until the alterations began. I informed them that I was moving out-of-state three months before my wedding, and they said they'd still do the three phases of alterations. After the third fitting the dress was shipped to me, but when I got it, it wouldn't zip four inches up the middle of my back. The dress was also pulling from the back forward away from the zipper, a big sign that the sides had been taken in. I had spent 350 on alterations, and the dress was almost ruined. I sent pictures to their email, and some were bounced back. Their first reaction was for me to send my dress back to them (wedding is 5 weeks away), measure my own bust, and their steamstress would let out the bust. I disagreed because you cannot alter something without a body present....
The owner and I finally agreed I would sent her a copy of their steamstress' original handwritten notes (which they had sent me with the dress) and a detailed explanation from my new steamstress what was wrong with the dress. Instead of waiting for all the pictures and the detailed explanation, she decided to refund only half of my money "because I was so unhappy with it" (not that they had done something wrong). She claimed that the sides of the dress had never been taken in with the bust, but my new steamstress showed me their stitches and where material had been cut out of the dress. Thankfully my new streamstress was able to undo any of the changes they had done to the bust. Unfortunately, there is slight cosmetic damage to the bustline of the dress, and at this point, there's no time for a new dress. It will still work out, but now I am paying someone else to fix their damage. I would recommend going somewhere else for your dress. All they had to do was listen to what was wrong with the dress and fess up to their mistake. Why buy from someone if they have no business ethics?
