CapitalOne billing error unresolved

CapitalOne billing error unresolved With our bill due the next day, I paid my CapitalOne bill in full the afternoon before. However, it was past 3pm ET and the debit did not appear the next morning. I called customer service that morning, and asked if the payment would clear. She assured me that the online payment did not and would not register due to computer problems, and she would allow the payment to be made over the phone at no cost to me. I asked her if there was any chance we would be double billed and she said that would not happen. As you can guess, we were billed twice. I called CaptialOne to reverse one of the charges. They said they could only mail us a check for us to deposit. It would take 5-10 days to create the check, and then a further delay to mail us the check from the East Coast to Texas. With only $142 in our checking account, this was not acceptable. Since they had the technology to instantly receive money, they should have the technology to instantly return it (especially when it was taken because of their error). After a couple of complaints and several delays, I got them to agree to wire the money back into our account. However, since we didn’t mail them a check in over a year (we pay electronically), they would not complete the wire transfer. So I am stuck with a low balance for the next 2-3 weeks, and CapitalOne gets to play with $2000 that doesn’t belong to them.
