Termination of Lease

Due to my new job in a new town, I needed to move out of my apartment

complex.

I gave proper notice and am now being told that I must pay a early

termination fee.

In the contract the word "fee" is not used but ask that when notice of

termination is given that an amount equal to one months rent is to be given

to the leasing company.

In the same paragraph it states that once the apartment has been rented and

payments made during the time that the apartment is newly rented will be

returned.

Please advise me of my options.
