In March 2005 I purchased a leather double recliner loveseat and the leather protection Stainsafe offered from the Lazy Boy store in Memphis, TN (dealer # 612500000338).
Unfortunately I did not read the extremely small print about Stainsafe's protection program. Why would anyone strain to read the small print when the salesperson assured me there is no reason a claim would be denied? So, I too am at fault but that does not make it okay.
In Jan. 2006 I was sitting on the floor and my husband was reclined in his side when I spotted a rip on the leather that wraps around the wooden frame. The only way this damage can be seen is if his side is reclined and someone looks under.
I called in the claim to Stainsafe in Jan. 2006 and after 3 months of being assured a technician would call me soon. They inform me on 3/21/06 that my claim was denied because I did not know the cause of the damage or exactly when it happened. I have 3 children and if they accidentally did it I don't know but is highly possible. The sales person never once said that I had to know when and how the damaged occurred and report it within 14 days(vital information), neither did your claims department until 3/21/06.
All I want is my chair repaired.
I emailed Stainsafe and this was their response:
"Dear Warranty Holder:
Thank you for your e-mail or fax. We greatly appreciate your communication regarding your claim. We appologize for the long delay in our response to your request. Stainsafe tremendously values your patronage as well as your time.
After review of your claim, our records indicate that Stainsafe has previously provided you the latest status of your claim."
Another thing that bothers me is that this letter was addressed to the President of the company. His name and address was given to me by their customer service representitive so I could voice my complaint to a higher level. He did not even respond to the letter the On-line Customer Care Correspondent did.
