directv local tv I do not understand why so many lives are being put in danger by an error on the part of DirecTV and Dish Network. Everyone in Phelps county receives thier weather out of Springfield, yet DirecTV insists this is a St. Louis market. St. Louis channels DO NOT COVER PHELPS COUNTY! We do not live in a city that has sirens to warn us of tornados. The ONLY way we know of impending dangerous weather is through KY3 KSFX KSPR or KOLR 10 out of Springfield. The reason that some survey declared Phelps count a St Louis market is insignificant compared to the value of life. This last year alone there have been over 1370 tornados in the US. THIS year over 30 people from Missouri lost there life because of dangerous weather and tornados. This trend, according to NOAA, is increasing each year. How many lives must be put in jeopardy or lost due to some stupid survey? PHELPS COUNTY IS NOT A ST LOUIS MARKET. What does it take to get a company such as these to listen to its customers? Put Phelps county customers back on Springfield channels and save lives. According to a spokesperson at Dish, they don't make the choice, it is up to the local providers to provide them with the signal for each market area. If this is true, then the stations that keep us informed on our weather are also endangering our lives. Something needs to be done ASAP before lives are lost. Taking away our local weather coverage sends us back into the "dark" ages before we had such technology as Doppler Radar, storm velocity, and tracking of storms. Please get the message across to whomever needs to hear it. PHELPS COUNTY IS NOT A ST LOUIS MARKET. The more these companies, stations, and people hear our cries for coverage the more likely we are to live through the next severe storm and purchase their products or services. I have called several times and the only answer I have gotten from DirecTV is that some Neilson survey declared Phelps county a St. Louis market. Well, they did not ask me, or my neighbors, or other members of my family or extended family, or any of our many friends. Did they ever come to my home to see what local TV stations tell me what is going to happen in MY county when there is a threat of bad weather? No! I have watched the St. Louis channels several times and they just DO NOT COVER PHELPS COUNTY! By the time they talk about the storms they are already past my home. For years we have watched Springfields KY3 KSFX KSPR or KOLR 10 for our news and weather coverage, and the last few years via DirecTV's local channel setup. We always knew when it was time to head for shelter because of the KY3 KSFX KSPR or KOLR 10 weather team. But now the satellite companies are taking that away from us, our safety, our security, our peace of mind. PHELPS COUNTY IS A SPRINGFIELD MARKET! Well, if they must insist it is a St. Louis market, let them. We shop in Springfield. We pay more to fly out of Springfield. We need Springfield's KY3 KSFX KSPR or KOLR 10 weather coverage. We know we are a Springfield market. BUT.... we are NOT a St. Louis local television area. Put an antenna up and guess what you bring in? KY3 KSFX KSPR and KOLR 10.... out of SPRINGFIELD. Granted its fuzzy/static and nowhere near as clear as it is via satellite, but at least its local. The only problem is, not everyone can put a large enough antenna up to pick up the signal. So....we bought DirecTV service and added on the local (SPRINGFIELD) channels. Explain to me why it was fine to have us under Springfield for so many years, and then without asking us, changed it to St. Louis? PHELPS COUNTY IS A SPRINGFIELD TV COVERAGE AREA!
