My husband and I have been looking for affordable health insurance for some time when we came in contact with consumer Health Benefits Assoc. Because the rates sounded "too good to be true" We wanted to be sure to do our research so as not to get "scammed". You never can be to careful. After reading a warning given by N.C. Commissioner about discount health insurance plans, we were very sure to ask all the right questions. Everything seemed

"legit" We were very excited but we did not stop there. We did research also on the partner company which the offer was being made, Guarantee Trust Life Insurance co. out of Illinois. According to the report put out by the NAIC consumer Information Source, they had a good rating. Complaints against them were under the average on individual complaints. Now my husband and I felt confident that the offer could be trusted. Oh , did I mention that I had at least four discussions with the Opening and Closing Manager, Robert Alexander, assuring me that what I had understood and written is what we would be getting. So happy about the plan that we recommended it to some family members. How sick I was when my father called me, after signing up at the cost of $256.00 , to say that it was not what we were told!

I immediately I phoned Mr. Alexander, what a change of tone. I questioned him on the differances. He told me that "I wrote them down wrong" Please, after all the pre-cautions that we took and after numerous phone calls with him, do you think I would have been so careless to write some of the facts wrong and others right? After questioning Mr. alexander further, his respond to me was to "Hang up" and not return any of my calls since that day. I have been trying to talk with others in the company since and have to say only one has been at least considerate to my situation. Yes they have my father on tape agreeing to the plan. The plan that I assured him was "Legit" only because I had been outright lied too! I may not be able to get my father a full refund, which he does deserve, but I hope this letter can help save others from being , should we say , misled. Please let me know whom else I should contact in the Florida area to file a complaint against this company.
