cingular wireless Wireless provider My 2 year contract with cingular ended 1/06. I walked in and received assistance paying my last phone bill under contract via the debit machine in the store. I told the attendant at the time that I would not be renewing my contract because I didn’t need a mobile phone that much. I asked her if there was anything else I needed to do thinking that since the 2 year contract was up, that our duties to one another were over, Right? Wrong! The attendant smiled and thanked me as she watched me pay my last bill under the contract via the debit machine. She never informed me that cingular will not turn service off of phone until you are somehow, magically informed that you must talk to the customer service department/billing department and tell them in very clear terms that you are no longer a cingular customer and to quit the service! This was done in person in 02/06. At that time, in person, I asked for the final amount to close my account at the time and paid said amount. Now cingular still sends a bill for an entire month because the Phone was “on” for 6 days until they finally turned the phone off. Their policy does not allow them to pro-rate bills. They only bill in entire months regardless of length of service time. Because the 2 year contract was over in 01/06 I didn’t “owe” them anything. A 2 year contract ended in 01/06. Never, Never be a victim of Cingular Wireless. Go to a prepay service and quit getting ripped off. Susie Q.
