RCA Scenium DLP Television

RCA Scenium DLP Television

I purchased an RCA HD50DLPW175 television on the 15th of January, 2006. It failed on February 17, 2006 and finally got someone to talk to at Thomson Electronics, the maker of this product. It was sent to a service center on March 1, 2006, where it has now sat for months, as there are no spare parts available to repair it. Seems it needs a new light engine, and none are available, anywhere in the world. To make matters worse, I have called their "customer care" department 8 times, taking normally an hour of waiting to get someone on the phone, all to no avail. Last call took 4 hours, talked to 4 people and still no answers or call backs.

Last word was "they would try to get approval for an exchange", but now 4 days have gone by, now answers and no call backs, and I have now been on hold for 1hr , 38 minutes, listening to their piano music and a recorded apology every 2 minutes.

They seem to care little about customer satisfaction and certainly are doing their best to get rid of my questions. After spending several thousand dollars on this product, I cannot just drop it, and go buy a replacement device. Seems aggravation is all they care about and hoping we go away.

I purchased an RCA HD50LPW175 on March 4, 2006 and it was delivered on the 9th. In January 2007 the screen went black - the lamp went out. My first call to them was on January 16th, got nowhere. Several uneventful calls following, and on February 8th was issued a case # from Consumer Relations - still nothing happened. On February 13th was referred to the Exchange Dept. Finally, I was told that the model was no longer in stock and they didn't have the replacement part to fix mine so they were exchanging it with an upgraded model. On February 23rd it was picked up and replaced with a new M50WH185YX1. On September 30, 2008 the exact same thing happened to this one! I really don't care about their one-year warranty - a television that cost $2,000 should last longer than 18 months! I am getting nowhere, just the typical "I understand how you feel but there is nothing we can do for you". I cannot believe I was stupid enough to buy an RCA! I cannot afford to throw away a $2,000 investment so I have no choice but to buy the replacement lamp. I am so frustrated I don't know what to do!
