Don't ever buy anything from these people. My wife and I ordered a dresser on Jan. 15. Delivery was promised in 6-8 weeks. At 8 weeks, we began calling to find out when it was going to be delivered. My wife and I kept calling the store, leaving messages and were promised call-backs. Especially bad was Madaline, who never called back. Gail at the store at least called back a couple of times, but simply said they were working on it and would get back to us with an answer. After 15 weeks, still no dresser nor delivery date!!!

We called the store and corporate headquarters more than 15 times over the last 7 weeks. Today, I finally spoke with the customer service manager. Her name is Kim and I also spoke with Doreen at HQ. They said they were new and blamed it on a problem with the manufacturer and said it would be 2-3 more weeks for delivery. I said that was ridiculous and how come I wasn't told that over the past 6-7 weeks when we called? I demanded a refund. She said that she had no authorization to issue a refund (she's the customer service manager!). I asked to speak with whoever had authorization, but was told that they were at a convention and were unavailable. Kim said if I cancelled I would be responsible for a 20% cancellation fee! I said I would not pay that, since they failed to live up to their end of the contract, not me. I was very forceful and said that I must have someone call me back on the next business day (Monday) with a confirmation of the refund or that the next call would be from my attorney and another to the Better Business Bureau.

After more than a dozen calls, including 5 today, that empty promise of a call back was not good enough. My next call was to my credit card company. I disputed the charge and asked them to not allow any more charges from Moda Furniture on my card. They agree to dispute the charge with Moda, issue me a refund, and said if Moda tried charging my card any cancellation fees or any other garbage, the credit card company would take care of it.

My advice:

1. Don't buy anything from Moda

2. If this happens to you, demand to be kept on hold while they transfer you around. Otherwise, they just don't call back

3. Put all purchases on a credit card and use their dispute system as leverage when you're screwed over

4. Best yet, don't buy anything you have to wait 6-8 weeks for
