Chase Bank - Rude and unwilling to work with customers

Chase Bank - Rude and unwilling to work with customers

I've got a credit card with Chase. This account has been open for 18 years. There has been MAYBE two late payments. One of them I paid online, on time and they still marked it as being late. I have called them several times to find only that their customer service skills are very lacking and they're more interested in messing over long term customers than anything else, or so it seems.

Since then, they have jacked the interest rate from around 6% to almost 30%. I've called numerous times, each time speaking to someone different and getting a different explanation of why they cannot reduce the interest rate.

Some reasons I've heard:

"You shouldn't make a payment on our web site. That information is incorrect." When I asked why that was my fault, she said I should know better.

"We did a credit check on you and you two have too many credit cards open". Mom and I shared the card and I had a car note. After I ran a credit report on me and mom, I found they were lying about that also.

"Pay for 6 months and you'll be eligible for a rate decrease". Six months later and we're still being told there is no rate adjustment available.

I called again and someone else told me the same thing...but the decrease in my interest never happened.

I'm sure there are more things to mention.

I recieved an email from their office with a name and number to call back. (After writing again) Mom called and the person who answered said they didn't transfer calls and there was no one there by that name. They wouldn't make any attempt to transfer her. I've filed complaints with onsite agencies and never heard a word back from Chase.

I called around January of this year and spoke to a lady who said she understood what I was upset about. I was almost shocked. She said to fax a letter in and they'd get back with me in a month. Well....guess what? That never happened either.

All this is just a drop in the bucket.

They have outright lied to me, refused to deal with me, told me they wouldn't reduce my interest, etc. What got me was their supervisor was more rude than the regular "customer service" people.

Sure, there was a late payment or two but in 18 years? And they're holding that over my head? The card is 25% from being maxed out. My interest rate is almost 30%.

This Credit Card company is a waste of space and I with there was something else I could do. Calling and writing them is a waste of anyone's time.

Anyone wanting some history about the new 'everywhere' Chase institution please read on.

This sayes it all.

I've cancelled six Chase accounts total this year. Some were original Chase accounts while others were bought out and/or taken over by Chase. In addition to this, I've been an Amoco Oil Company charge account patron for 40+ years. I just cancelled them too because their accounting system has been taken over by Chase and this bank as absolutely ruined customer relations for Amoco. I have nothing against the oil company, however, when you are an Amoco charge holder or motor club member, you no longer are dealing with Amoco. Amoco has given Chase Carte Blanche to handle everything their way. When you call about your account, be rest assured you are no longer dealing with Amoco. You are dealing with Chase now. Even the statements come under the Chase name. Amoco has lost all identity now that Chase has taken over their accounting procedures. Why I cancelled? It's not worth giving Chase the time. Don't say you've not been forewarned!

You should read your cardmember agreement. Everything they can do to you is right there. Read it. Learn it. Work it and they can never work you. If you don't read it, you are accountable for entering into and continuing business with a company that is a FINANCIAL INSTITUTION which of course is going to have profit as their number one priority.

Get over yourself and your sense of entitlement and become something that is even more rare than a bank that gives a damn...A SMART CONSUMER.

p.s. Two late payments are still TWO LATE PAYMENTS. Yay for holding yourself accountable for your own actions!

You can :

1. transfer to another bank immediatelly that values you and stop ding the business with Chase that doesn't value you.

2. Report them to Federal and state agencies that control their practices, General Attorney's office in your state and Better Business B.

3. Tell everyone about your experiences, including your children, Chase Bank will not last for long.
