We purchased the subject dishwasher from Crossroads Appliance on March 19, 2001. This unit was to replace an older GE unit that was damaged during an earthquake of that year. After researching many dishwashers, we decided upon this because of its reliability ratings, cleaning ability, and quiet operation.
Since the purchase of this unit we have not had a service call on the dishwasher, but have, over the last 5 years, called the dealer and KitchenAid on numerous occasions due to poor cleaning performance. Each time we have called we have tried the remedies proposed by the dealer and by KitchenAid, with no apparent success.
At this point, we are tired of trying their suggestions and those of the dealer. We have gone through different detergents, different dish loadings, and different products – all to no avail. The last step was a final call to KitchenAid recently and we were told our water was the problem and KitchenAid recommended we install a water softener. This is a $1500. investment we do not need to make – we’ll buy another dishwasher first. Our original GE unit never had these issues and was on the same water line as this unit.
We have tried to get some resolution to this problem, whether it is a no charge service call or a replacement unit. But KitchenAid refuses to pat for the service call. They would rather lose me as a customer. We consider this dishwasher a poor product design and terrible performance.
