Financial Services Company collecting for Global Exchange Vacations (GEVC)


I have an account with Monterey Financial Services since July of 2003. I have been in good standing and paid on time, usually paying every two weeks and sending more than the monthly payment amount. In recent weeks I have and interruption in cash flow due to issues with Bank of America changing their electronic bill pay process. I have been contacting Monterey to advise them of the problem and to let them know payments would be delayed.


On one occasion approximately April 6th I phoned their office and spoke with Meredith or Melanie, but I believe she stated her name as Meredith. I explained my situation and asked her to audit my account and send the results to me. She stated she would and then asked when could she expect the past due payment amount. I again told her I needed the audit results and as soon as I got them I would know better how much and when payment would be made. She continued to "muscle" me about payment and basically said if I did not give her a payment date she would not send the audit results. She never asked where I wanted the results sent, or never extended any customer service courtesy to me.


When I asked as she continued to demand a payment date, I said to her " so you won't audit unless I give you a payment/date'.. . she then yelled DIDN'T I TELL YOU THREE TIMES I WOULD DO IT, and as her voice escalated, I asked to to calm down at least twice, and on the second request to calm down, she HUNG UP the phone on me. She must be the owner of the company, or this is company condoned behavior, because I have never had a customer service representative from any company under any circumstance to actually hang up in my face, after getting upset and yelling at me the customer.


I have yet to receive the audit of my account as requested and promised. I will pay Monterey Financial what I owe them, continuously and on time until the account is paid in full, but I will let everyone I speak with know the kind of customer service this company condones and provides.
