Verizon non service DSL and Charter communications incompetance

Dear Sirs and Ladies,


I am a contractor in the slow period of the year. I was late on my Verizon bill and was waiting for a couple of invoices to come in so I could catch up a few bills including Verizon.


On the 9th of November I called Verizon and paid the bill in full with my debit card.(I verified this with my bank) On the 21st of November my DSL service was cut off.


I called Verizon on several occasions and have wasted a large amount of time on hold and talking to people who relied on the excuse that they could do nothing. I have found someone who is at the very least keeping me updated on the situation but I still have no internet service as of the 8th of December.


In the meander I called Charter Communications and made an appointment to have cable broadband hooked up. I figured that if Verizon can't get it done let their competetor have a crack at it. Before the technition showed up I had installed a router and cable modem. This included boring a hole through the side of my building to pass the cable connection through. The Charter rep was told that I was doing this and agreed that it was a good way to stay away from the installation charge. The tech showed up and said there was no way to hook cable broadband to my building. I figured well I got taken for a ride again by another large company that has no idea what it is doing. Later that day I found out that the building immediately adjacent to mine had full cable service. This was less than welcome news.


I need the broadband for the Ebay sales that I supplement my income with in the off season. Now that it is almost mid December I can pretty much kiss any of that money I would have made goodbye. Granted I could have avoided this situation by paying on time but I would rather pay with real money than with a bad check. Regardless, the DSL was cut off 12 days AFTER I paid the bill in full. There is no legitimate excuse for this.


In conclusion I have wasted a large amount of time, effort and money and have received nothing for any of it. I have nothing but disdain for both Charter Communictaions and Verizon. I have my doubts that there is any internal control of company processes let alone customer service. If I treated my customers the way they have treated me I would be more than out of business I would have to move.
