I was in the market for a computer and since I already had a Dell Dimension I decided to buy another. Dell had mailed me a coupon that offered 20% off select desktop and notebook purchases of $999.00 or more. On December 30 2005, I configured a dimension computer which cost approximately 1500 dollars. I went to check out and applied the coupon. It would only apply 5 %. So I went on to chat and they instructed me to call customer service. Customer service said they wouldn’t honor it because it was a misprint and they stated it was suppose to be 5 % not 20% and offered to give me a better deal then 5% but not the 20% that my coupon showed. I declined. On December 31st I configured another Dell dimension computer because I had a coupon for 30% off, which they would honor. I was checking out and noticed they had a deal for no interest for 12 months for financing on dimension computers. I thought what a deal and called customer service and applied. They approved me for $3000. And the system I wanted was only $1200 after the discount. But the catch was I didn’t qualify for no interest. They said that was for people who qualified for $7000.00 or up. I asked why I didn’t qualify for that and she couldn’t answer. The sales person Leanne Geerts, supervisor James Webb, wouldn’t talk to me. So we ran my husbands credit because surely he qualified. Well he only qualified for $1500.00. I and my husband have a flawless credit report and my credit report is right in front of me and couldn’t understand why I or my husband who makes 100,000.00 per year didn’t qualify for $7000.00 so we wouldn’t have to pay interest. Leanne Geerts told me if I bought an XPS computer, I would qualify for no interest for 18 months. I asked her why I qualify for no interest for 18 months on a more expensive pc when I couldn’t qualify for a no interest for 12 months. Again she couldn’t answer.
