Epson printers

Epson printers My wife and I have purchased 3 Epson printers, an Epson scanner, and various other Epson products such as ink cartridges, paper, photo paper, etc. The first printer was the Epson Stylus Color inkjet, the second was the Stylus 400, followed by the Stylus C86. The first printer still functioned and the 400 was purchased due to its’ features and better quality of print. The Stylus 400 was a real workhorse. It gave us years of service and printed thousands of pages of text and photos. Finally one day the print quality for the black ink diminished and would no longer print out any ink at all. We only used Epson ink cartridges and tried cleaning the heads with no success. We figured the print head was clogged or the printer was worn out. We were pleased with the performance of the Stylus 400 so we went out and purchased the C86. We selected it because it was an Epson and it used the DURABrite inks. Much to our dismay, this printer sure turned out to be a lemon. We probably printed 10 photos and less than 200 pages of text and it is already shot. We only used Epson DURABrite ink cartridges, however, the black and yellow ink will no longer print out at all. The blue and magenta are a little patchy but at least we get some ink out. We cleaned the heads, replaced the ink cartridges and called the support line. We went so far as to take the printer apart to find the primer tube plugged and cleaned that to open it up. We thought that was the cure, however it still wouldn’t print. The only thing we figured it could be is plugged nozzles on the print head. The cost of printers and the cost of repairs virtually makes printers disposable items. Either way, this printer did not perform very well, was a source of aggravation for us and gave us a new opinion of Epson. Obviously the technology and quality of their print heads or inks need to be reviewed.
At this point, we are disgusted with Epson. We will remove the drivers from our computers and throw the Epson equipment in the garbage. We used to tell friends and family how good the Epson printers were. Now we will tell them what we truly believe. Epson no longer makes a quality product and we will never buy another Epson product. We have two lasers printers getting us by for now and the next color printer we purchase will not be an Epson.
