Consumer Cellular

Consumer Cellular I wanted to try thier service. After all I couldn't lose anything (No Contract and I would be able to use my existing phone). This meant No activation fees either. Unfortunately, you have to do everything on-line. This would have been fine, except I was continually prompted to "buy a phone". That's when I discovered that their Customer Servbice is "Non-Existant". All I wanted was info as to how to activate their service without buying a phone. I incurred 2 seperate 15 minute cellphone "on-hold" calls to them. After no human contact I gave up. Then I tried 2 e-mails to their customer service (1 thru my ISP and one thru their "contact us" area within their own website. This second one promised a quick response. That was 8 days ago and have heard N-O-T-H-I-N-G. So, if your considering trying Consumer Cellular and "care nothing" of customer service (ha-ha) then be my guest. Otherwise go elsewhere! They will do wonders for you at a very low cost. In fact with just one FREE letter or phone call from a member attorney the problem goes away and you get any money owed you. Give it a try. It works every time for me. I have been with US Cell for 11 years. Not once have I been late with a payment. Today, I awoke to NO CELL PHONE. I have moved to Kansas, and assumed the cancellation was due to many of my calls being placed out of the area. Ok, fine. I'm cool with that, but for phucks sake, could you tell a guy? A letter in the mail? Email? Something? Oh hell no...NOTHING. But just for $hits and giggles, I log into my bank account to VERIFY that I had paid the bill. Right there it was, $97.31 paid on 8/07/09, the day before it was due. FYI, I made the payment through the US CELL website. Using THEIR SYSTEM, they made the damn charge directly to my checking account. REMEBER THIS, THIS IS IMPORTANT. So I call, and speak to the rudest person on the planet. She can't speak with me. My wife is the primary account holder so I'm a piece of $hit. Ok, fine...phone doesn't work so I can't call her. Thank God she was meeting me here at work. So, a little while later, Kim shows up. We call US Cell. Once again, I speak with the rudest person on the planet....a different one this time. Where do they get these people? Anyway, they want a payment. I had made payment, my wife says. She gives the phone to me after authorizing me to speak with this witch on the phone. The US Cell rep says we had not made payment and demanded that I pay right now. I told her I had made the payment USING THEIR GOD DAMN ONLINE PAYMENT SYSTEM and the charge was posted TO MY CHECKING ACCOUNT 10 days ago!!! Well, that simply wasn't possible because she had no record of it. Holy $Hit. The witch suggested I contact my bank, have them fax a copy OF MY STATEMENT TO THEM and it may take 3 days for someone to look at it and start the investigation. Well, I'm doing some investigating....I'll be looking into new cell carriers. Screw these clowns. IF this his how they treat people, and they can't even manage their own payment system, they can go to hell. So here I sit in the middle of Kansas, with no phone. SCREW YOU US CELLULAR!!!!!!! Let's just say that they cut off my AT&T service, never put me on theirs, and left me in danger of my health and safety because I could not access my voicemail to get the phone numbers on my in home hospice nurses. They did this on the 3rd of July to be malicious because I owed them $23.00 for NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am calling the president of the company's voice mail right now. Will write back. In May 2008, Consumer Cellular’s advertised in AARP’s magazine. The ad said within 30 day you can return the cell phone and cancel the service, no questions asked, money back guarantee. So I purchased a cell and ear bud from Consumer Cellular on June 5, 2008. The bud didn’t work at all and the cell phone worked only marginally. The following Monday June 9th I called Consumer Cellular’s customer service for help. They didn’t try to help instead they told me I would have to deal with the manufacture Motorola. So I asked for a return authorization and they told me I would have to call back the next day. I called back on Tuesday June 10th and repeatedly asked for a return and got one. The cell and ear bud was returned the day after I received Consumer Cellular’s special envelope. On June 23, 2008, Consumer Cellular called me and I spoke to Debbie the supervisor. She told me that the security code of the cell phone has been changed and until I gave them the right code I couldn’t get a refund. I didn’t change it. But I only use one code for all my small electronics so I gave them the code. Several phone calls later Debbie became belligerent and started yelling at me over the phone. After repeated charges to my credit card, letters back and forth, fourteen bills ranging from $35 to $317.36, including late charges for equipment I don’t have and service I don’t use. On September 16, 2008, my credit card company told me it was over. Consumer Cellular claims were denied; they can not recharge my credit card. Consumer Cellular continues calling my house asking for payment, billing me, and has now sold the account to a collections agency.
