Tracfone
I got my tracfone in November of 2005 and I have had nothing but problems with the damn thing. First, after one week of use, my phone somehow deactivated itself. I had to call and reactivate it and get a whole new phone number and everything. I have the one year plan where all of the airtime I add is doubled and I don't actually have to add airtime until next November. After I re-registered my phone the display said that I had to add airtime in 3 months. So I had to call back again and they had to fix that problem. Now, at the end of December I have to add more minutes so I am trying to buy a card online and when I enter my promotional code to receive extra minutes, it says that my promo code is invalid. I called to find out what the hell is going on and the recording told me that they were experiencing high call volume and to call back later. CALL BACK LATER??? What about putting me on hold?? So today I called back and I actually got put on hold. When the customer service person picked up it was OF COURSE someone from India. I couldn't understand a god damned word she said. This isn't the first time I "called" India. I honestly don't know what she said. She said something about my promo code won't work until I register a credit card and then she put me on hold to be transfered to that department. I had to hang up because my home phone battery is shot and it is discontinued so it beeps after 10 minutes and hangs itself up after 20 minutes. I would rather hang up on hold than to have it cut out in the middle of my conversation (which I probably wouldn't understand anyway). The only thing is, that on the website, when you want to buy airtime you type in your phone serial number and then pick which card you want. Next it tells you to enter your promotional code number, which you get when you buy the phone. I understand that if I am buying online I will have to use my credit card, but then why don't you enter the credit card info before you enter your promo code? There is nothing that says, "You cannot enter a promo code until you have a registered credit card." It just says "This promo code is invalid". No explanation or anything. I tried to find a place on the website where I can register my credit card so I don't have to talk to India, but I guess you can't. I switched from Virgin Mobile to Tracfone and I regret it. Virgin Mobile's reception sucks, but I never had any other problems with them.
