Lenscrafters/ service Lenscrafters Lloyd Center, Portland, Oregon
On December 29, 2005, immediately following an eye exam by my regular optometrist who has his offices inside and at the back of the Lenscrafter's store, I ordered a pair of glasses. I had been a previous customer of Lenscrafter's but had not used their services because of bad service in the past. I thought maybe they would have improved by now and ordered the glasses. I was told there were no coupon sales at present, but I would have a 30% discount because I am a AAA (Auto Club) member.
I asked when the glasses would be ready and they said it would be an hour if they had the materials on hand. They checked and they had the materials for one lens but not the other, therefore it would take two weeks. I said I would pay when I picked them up. They said, "No, you will have to pay the full amount now." I asked why and they ( the salesman and a technician) said that they had to order the materials and they didn't want to be "out" the money. I said, "You have use of my money, the full amount for 2 weeks, while I have nothing? No product, nothing?" Yes, the technician said, "Because we don't want to get stuck with the high index glass, if you don't show up."
So I am to pay full amount for materials they don't have on hand for one lens? Yup. That seems very wrong to me. Other people with bad credit or bad checks can come in and get glasses in an hour and walk out and Lenscrafter's loses on the frame, their lens, and their technician's cost. I come in, a previous customer with excellent credit and a regular patient with a dr. inside their facility and I have to pay full amount and wait two weeks. That's discrimination against a person who has poor eyesight.
I hope the glasses are OK, but I had to send a previous pair back more than once for incorrect coatings and other problems. I hope the service has improved. They no longer send the dr.'s Prescription to the technician and that's scary. I am dependent on a salesman who typed in the diopters info. and this is a person who had trouble spelling my last name correctly. AAAuugh. I think I just made a $342.96 mistake.
I will try to find out how to remove my name and address from all future mailings from Lenscrafter's. It will just make this senior citizen angry to see any more of their ads. I will now try to find out how to get my name off of their mailing list.
